Terms and Conditions
These terms apply when a visitor uses the Madhyastham website. By using the website, a visitor agrees to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. A visitor who disagrees with them can stop using the website.
What this website is for
The website offers information about the work of Justice K. Kannan across conflict resolution, litigation, law reform and teaching. Visitors come to it of their own accord. Its content is information. It is not an advertisement, a solicitation, or an invitation to engage Justice K. Kannan, and it complies with the rules of the Bar Council of India on advocates’ websites.
Information on the site is general
Pages, articles, talks and answers on the website give general information. They do not give legal advice, and a visitor should not rely on them for a specific situation. Articles and talks reflect their authors’ views at the time they were published, and the law may have changed since. A visitor with a legal question can send a message through the contact form to discuss it.
Sending a message does not create an engagement
A message sent through the contact form, an email, or a call to Madhyastham does not create a lawyer-client relationship, a mediation engagement, or any other professional engagement. An engagement begins only when Justice K. Kannan or his team confirms it in writing. Visitors should keep confidential case details and privileged documents for after that point.
Using the content
Justice K. Kannan, or the publishers who hold the rights, own the text, books, graphics and other materials on this website. A visitor may:
- Link to any page.
- Quote a short extract for personal, educational or news use, with credit to Justice K. Kannan and a link to the source.
Republishing, copying in bulk, selling or adapting the content needs written permission from Madhyastham. Articles and videos that Madhyastham links to belong to their publishers, such as LiveLaw, The Hindu, Frontline, and YouTube, and are subject to their own terms.
Books, courses and other outside links
Madhyastham does not sell books or take payments on this website. Book pages link to retailers and publishers, which set their own prices, editions, availability and terms. Academy pages describe courses taught by Justice K. Kannan and link to LiveLaw Academy, which handles registration, fees and certificates. Course dates and formats may change, and the provider’s page shows the current details. Madhyastham does not control the websites it links to and does not endorse everything on them.
Using the website responsibly
Visitors agree to use the website lawfully. A visitor will:
- Give accurate details in the contact form.
- Send no unlawful, abusive or misleading content.
- Avoid any attempt to disrupt the website, gain unauthorised access to it or collect other visitors’ data.
Madhyastham may decline to reply to a message and may block access for misuse.
Accuracy and availability
Madhyastham takes reasonable care to keep the website accurate and available. It may contain errors or become out of date, and it may be unavailable from time to time. Madhyastham provides the website as it stands and gives no warranty that it is complete, current or free of interruptions.
Limits on responsibility
To the extent the law allows, Madhyastham is not responsible for loss that results from using the website, relying on its content or visiting a linked website. Nothing in these terms removes a responsibility that the law does not allow anyone to remove.
Your privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what personal data Madhyastham collects and how it protects that data.
Law and disputes
Indian law governs these terms. A visitor with a concern about the website can write to Madhyastham first. Both sides will then try to resolve it through mediation within 30 days of that message. If the matter stays open after that, the courts at Chennai have exclusive jurisdiction.
Updates to these terms
Madhyastham posts any update on this page with a revised date. Continued use of the website after an update means the visitor accepts the updated terms.
